Almost Done

Dan the Builder is almost done with the remodeling, and it's looking great. There's some siding to put up on the outside, some miscellaneous finish work downstairs, and the railing to install by the circular staircase. Then we can do some painting, hang Mortimer, and enjoy our new home away from home.


We did some furniture moving while we were up there this weekend and we think it's going to be a nice cozy room now that it's been opened up.


Before and After

The temperature warmed up this weekend. It was about 60 degrees warmer than it had been earlier in the week. Sixty degrees! That's like going from freezing to a 92 degree heat wave. I took a walk out on the lake and the cold weather had frozen all that slush we found over New Year's. It was pretty easy to get around out there. The warm weather also brought snow. We left a little earlier on Sunday than we'd planned. The flakes were coming down pretty hard and the neighbors who plow the road are out of town this weekend. We didn't want to get stuck! The drive home was slower than normal. The wind was blowing the snow into drifts on the road and there was a thin layer of slippery skid stuff at times, but we drove slow and had no problems.
